Summary:

Provides technical assistance, training and support to employees and students of the University.
Troubleshoots hardware, software and network related issues. Support staff with video conferencing
tools. Support staff on the use of Colleague ERP. Assists with the administration of the network and
telephone system, assuring its availability and performance by performing the following duties:

Provides technical assistance, training and support to employees and students of the University. Troubleshoots hardware, software and network related issues.  Support staff with video conferencing tools.  Support staff on the use of Colleague ERP. Assists with the administration of the network and telephone system, assuring its availability and performance by performing the following duties:

Primary Duties:

  • Provides hardware, software and technical support to all employees and students.
  • Updates and maintains computer inventory in the Track IT system.
  • Maintains printers, accessories and other peripherals to a high level of performance.
  • Installs and configures software and hardware.
  • Performs component level repair.
  • Diagnosis and troubleshoots networking issues.
  • Assist System Administrator in preparing and deploying images.
  • Provide to the IT Administrative Assistant specs to request quotations for hardware and software purchases.
  • Assists users for specific software requests.
  • Provides general assistance of the computer network and telephone system,
  • Performs routine maintenance and repair on computers, telephone system and other IT related equipment.
  • Optimizes use of computers by evaluating computing and purchasing needs.
  • Relocate hardware as needed.
  • Evaluates and installs new software, operating systems and upgrades.
  • Monitors network accessibility and performance to insure peak optimization.
  • Assists users with software, hardware and telecommunications issues.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of continuing developments in the networking field and evaluates new hardware and software equipment.
  • Diagnoses and resolves hardware and software problems keeping MIS members informed of any current or future issues. If needed, consults with software, hardware and service vendors for assistance.
  • Assist in the supervision of the computer labs, assuring that they are performing adequately.
  • Prepares and monitors hardware maintenance schedules and procedures.
  • Observes and reports equipment performance deficiencies, coordinates equipment repairs as needed.
  • Provides reports and summaries to the MIS Director regarding the operations of the WiFi network.
  • Support staff on the use of Colleague ERP.
  • Any other duties that are assigned by the MIS Director

Qualifications: An associate degree in Computer Science or completion of a 2-year course in Computer Maintenance and Repair. Two years of experience working with PC and networks. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required. A+ Certification is desirable.   Flexibility on work schedule is necessary.  Knowledge of Colleague or any other ERP is a plus.
